Studies in France...
Studies in France...
Raw details from my 4 years in France... (the post was written in hurry so
sorry for typos and other grammatical mistakes)...
In France, Bachelors programs are always in French, so Sorry for
undergraduates, France is not for you.
For masters, Some important information:
A) Masters program is
of two years. With 16 years education, You can take admission either in first
year (M1) or second year (M2). M1 is nore basic and general level. But M2 is
specialized with 6 months practical paid internship(for most of natural
sciences program). If you are coming directly for Masters 2, buckle up it wont
be easy as you will be skipping a lot of basics from M1.
1) IELTS is neither
required for universities nor for embassy... Except some of the very few
private universities. In that case english proficiency certificate works in
most cases.
2) financial
requirement is 625x (nunber of months of your study), + tuition fee + 1000 euro
for health insurance and return ticket. e.g. for one year program you need to
have 12000 euros approximately bank statement.
3)6 month old bank
statement is a crucial point for your visa.. 3 months old statement can work
but risky... The embassy needs you to justify the financial resources so you
have to prove from the source of that amount. Its good to have a private sector
job. Start from today so you can apply in june.
4) Visa decision is
mainly dependent on your approach to satisfy the source of your income.. So be
careful in that. A property selling deed is a very good way. Or use your father
statement with his salaryslip and affidavit letter
5) tuition fee for
last year for publuc universities was 250 euros but is expected to increase to
around 3000 euros.. there is 90% chance that the fee is already increased.
6) your masters
programme should be in accordance with your bachelors study. It increasr visa
chances.. A completely different program is hard to get visa for.
the job
opportunities are very low, almost none unless you have good french
level(atleast 1). Except in Paris, where you can do low level odd jobs at lower
salary. Some of the international fields like marketing and IT have some
possibilities but hard to find so dont rely on your earning in France.
9) If you are
dreaming of living American dream by fantasizing other students abroad...
FRANCE is not a place for you. Its welfare state... A PhD is paid 1300 euros
and after PhD it starts arpund 1800.. A 20 meter square apartment in Paris is
rented at 1200 euros and in suburbs about 650 euros. So do the math. Its good
for good living but not to give you lavish lifestyle..
10) normal living
expenses in Paris with colocation and a very basic living can be lowered to 500
euros monthly but not below that.. However, first two months can be heavy for
you... Again, it is with minimal living conditions.
11) after Masters 2,
you have the opportunity to get one year job search visa free of cost. Or you
can take admission in another program.
12) for Natural
sciences there are very good opportunities to find PhD and depending on
projects they are paid fron 1300 euros to up to 1800. But I am not sure about
social sciences if they are paid or not. (I Think for social sciences you have
to find funding yourself).
13) how to find
masters programme in english. Each university has a dedicated page for english
programs now. A wide catalogue of english programs is available at canlus
france site.:
http://taughtie.campusfrance.org/tiesearch/#/catalog
But not all programs
are included in the list. So look for each university with its name and write
masters programs in english
14) If you have
question about anything in France, its better to search in French (use google
translate for that)... Majority of french use French to ask and answer so its
better to use their language.
15) there are several
scholarship opportunities. Its called bourse in french search masters bourse
Francr on google and you will find a lot of opportunities. I Have listed some
in other post.
